Our weekend started out right again! With a trip to Chick-fi-A. We have their yearly calendar and almost missed out on our free treat this month! Wouldn't want to do that. And after a week of being quarantined at home, we were ready to break out.
Saturday brought lots of running around. I got up early before everyone woke up and went garage sale-ing with a friend. I hit the jack-pot at the first house and picked up several things for Amos in the fall and all at perfect garage sale prices! While I was out, Jason helped with the Mystery Silent Auction and scored us a ladder that is tall enough to get on our roof and some other odds and ends.
On Sunday we visited another new church in town and met up with friends for lunch after. It's been wonderful to see old friends even at new places.
After the boys caught a quick nap and Jason and I added our new stair runner, Grammy came for a visit and we all headed to Aunt Amelia and Uncle Matthew's house.
Somebody's teething...
Our week started with everyone healthy!!!! We are adding a new outing to our routine - the Y. The boys have enjoyed it, especially since they get to see their cousins while there, and Mom has too!
Amos has been so good with Ivan this week. He'll entertain him without me even asking just because he hears him starting to fuss and knows I'm busy. He keeps telling me how much he likes having a baby. And how good of a brother he is!
Silas is always quick to help too. Here he is helping me take Ivan's weekly picture. I couldn't help but snap a quick picture of this handsome man. With the hat. Always.
We finally found a use for the pacifier. A teether. He's been chewing on things something fierce this week. I finally gave in an purchase an Amber necklace. I've heard rave reviews about how it helps with teething pain. I figured since we are just starting and have 12 teeth to break in, now was as good as time as any to give it a try. I don't have a review yet, but it might actually be helping. Time will tell.
He's very into "writing" lately.
Here's his "pacifier."
The other big news for this guy is starting solids. I really wanted to wait until 6 months, but a couple of things seemed to suggest that he was ready. I decided to wouldn't hurt to try and he practically grabbed the bowl from me and gobbled it up. Maybe not quite, but almost. I think he was ready.
These goofballs have been pigs all week. We studied the story of the lost son and acted it out a few hundred times. We finished the week off with pig-in-a-blanket for lunch.
Our other excitement was moving these two into the same room Tuesday night. It so happened that I had to be out for the evening, so I left Dad to deal with the fun the first evening. They seemed to be asleep when I got home after 9. So was Dad. He ended up coming home from work sick on Wed and stayed home Thursday too. We quarantined him and hope no one catches anything. So far so good.
The second night of sharing a room wasn't so hot. Laughter. Crying. Screaming. Giggling. and Sushing. All until about 10pm. Then they were up at 5am. Boo.
They were exhausted the next day, but I didn't let them sleep it off. I woke Silas up early from his nap, and kept Amos busy. They were asleep by 8 and didn't wake until 7. Hopefully the newness will wear off soon. They are having a blast. Brothers for life.
