silas john - week 26

Little guy was just "off" this week.  Come to find out, we've hit wonder week 26.  I think he's working on fine motor skills. Like picking up toys.
To top that, the last two days have been a definite, no doubt about it, growth spurt.  We had spent several days at the wonderful for 4 hour schedule, but he's been back to eating every 2 1/2 to 3 hours and he woke in the middle of the night once. :(
We've waved the white flag of defeat to bottles and are moving on to trying a sippy cup.  He seems to like a sippy better.  No real drinking happening though.

Not many sitting spills this week.  He leans way forward to grab and toy and then corrects himself.  Spills usually happen when he is trying his hardest to see what's going on behind him.

Silas is doing a better job at eating.  He'll at least open his mouth for food.  He still doesn't act like he wants it too much, but the day I didn't give him much baby food, was the day he woke in the night.  So they might be connected.  You never really know.  Baby food it is.

He got another hair trim.  The trims help keep his hair a little more manageable.

Something clicked somewhere  and now Silas knows when he is by himself.  He still does a pretty good job playing alone, but I can tell he knows it.  I think it may be time to start a little structured Independent playtime.
He hits the 6 month mark today.  CANNOT BELIEVE IT!  I think we may a photo shoot on one of the nice days this week and a doctor's appointment.

Here's Amos at the same age:

change of plans

We had every intention of going camping down by Branson Friday night, followed by a day at Silver Dollar City.  The rain cancelled those plans.  Camping's fun, but not when you spend most of your time in a wet tent.

So, instead, Jason's parents came down and put in our promised Christmas present - a storm door.

If you've ever put in a storm door, you know how much fun it is.  Brad had me as an assistant, on Friday, while Jason was at work and Nana played with the boys.
Amos got in on some of the action.
Jason came home just in time to help finish off the back door and head out to eat.  We finally made it to the new steak house in town - Longhorn!  It lived up to the hype.  If you plan on eating there soon, call ahead and have them start your table.  We only ended up waiting 15 min, where most people had over an hour wait.
You would think Jason wasn't happy we were eating steak.
 Amos was happy about it.

One door down, one to go.  After assisting with one door, I was pretty confident we could do the front door.  We ate breakfast and got started.

Both doors are hung and close properly!  A success!  We even had to take our borrowed double stroller out for a run!

The boys did great.  If you look closely, you can see our new storm door.

weekend of celebrating

Jason celebrated by chaperoning his students at Prom and After Prom (which involved staying up all night long).  We left him to it and headed to Altamont to celebrate at a baby shower for my cousin and my Grandpa's 75th  birthday.

silas john - week 25

So far, bananas are Silas' favorite food.  Surprise, surprise.  Everything else I pretty much have to shove in his mouth, but not bananas.

He keeps teasing me with a four hour schedule.  I guess that just means we're close.  Can't wait.

Flapping arms is Silas' favorite past time.  He also does it when he's really excited.

He's also be hanging out with Amos a lot more.  Amos was trying to get Silas' exesaucer into to his room.
Amos has decided we can keep Silas.  I think he loves having a little brother.
What does bad naps, excessive drool, neck rash, and gnawing on everything mean? Beats me, because it's not a tooth.

Amos now refers to Silas as Si Guy.  I must say that too often.

If you've been following along, you know that both Amos and Silas were born with blocked tear ducts.  Nothing serious, just really annoying.  Their tears didn't drain and would get "gunky" from time to time.  Amos' went away at 11 months (ugh).  I thought Silas was destined for the same.  BUT, this week I think it cleared up.  One day his eye was so "gunky" that I was considering taking him to the doctor to see if it was something else and the next day it was clear and not even watery!  Yay!

Silas is becoming a professional sitter.  I think his wide base (aka chunky cheeks) is paying off.

I know it's hard to believe, but this guy's got back rolls.
We traveled to see my family this weekend.  Silas was content in anyone's arms.  But here he is with his look-a-like, my dad!
