weekend recap: the oklahoma aquarium

Ever since our trip to California last summer, Amos has been fascinated and frightened by sharks. Needless to say, he wasn't too disappointed that our trip to the zoo changed to a visit to the aquarium. We decided not to risk the rain, and chose to visit the Oklahoma aquarium instead. And we were not disappointed.

We started the morning early, and drove to Kansas to catch a ride on down to Tulsa with my parents. It was much more fun driving together and talking along the way. Whadda you know? All the boys fit in the back together. Ivan didn't nap much, but as long as he saw his brothers, he was happy.

Here the boys are in an area where they could touch some small things. Amos was even brave enough to try and let a shrimp swim into his hands.

Almost everything was at Amos' eye level. Silas needed alittle more help. I think he appreciated being held while looking at some of the more creepy things anyway.

We kept spotting fish from Finding Nemo everywhere. This guy did great. He took a short nap while there, but most of the time he was content just watching everyone.

Amos was ready to see the shark from the beginning, but they had a lot of other interesting things that kept him very entertained until we reached the shark tunnel.
We caught the tail-end of sting-ray and shark petting.
Here's Daddy petting a sting-ray.
Finally the SHARK TUNNEL. My pictures are the greatest, but it literally feels like you are in there with the sharks. They are swimming above and all around you. Amos wasn't so sure, but he was able to take it all in. He even went back for a second time and declared the sharks his favorite at the end.
Kids could crawl under a tank and crawl up inside. Amos loved peeking out at us.

We were all hungry after a visit to the aquarium and ate at Cheddars together. Grammy spoiled the boys with new t-shirts and sharks. It entertained them the whole wait for our food. I see lots of shark play in our future.

Gramps spoiled us with chips and salsa and good food. Silas ate about half the appetizer, I think! We ended the trip with a stop at my new favorite Gelato place! Yum! The back was pretty quite on the way home. We may not always live so close to our family, so I'm thankful for times like this weekend when we get to soak it all up!
