Silas John - 5 months old

Did you hear that?  That was the sound of my huge sigh of relief that we've finally made it to five months.  This was one of my favorite ages with Amos.  He'd mastered sleeping, figured out eating and could sit and play with toys happily!  Isn't that what every mother wants?  Silas isn't quite there, but we are making some major headway in that direction.  I look forward to what this month brings.

Spring Break Happenings

Our spring break started right off the bat with lunch with my family.  The weather was nice so we grilled out and when everyone went down for a nap, the girls headed to the stores to find some deals.  Grammy made sure to get everyone some summer PJs.

As I've already mentioned, we then headed to Lebanon for fun with Jason's family.  Check that out here.

We had every intention of stopping at the zoo on the way back through Springfield, but both boys were asleep and the weather was a bit on the cold side, so we drove on through.   To make up for our missed zoo trip, we hit up Petsmart on Wednesday.  Here's a few pictures from that trip.  Amos seems to still like animals from a bit of a distance, or safely in Dad's arm.  He didn't want to leave.

Silas was having a ton of fun too!
When finished up our outing with a trip to Andy's.  Amos is getting use to ice cream.  He even asked for "MORE!"

On Friday was made a trip Springfield so that Jason could talk with another small coffee roaster!  We had to happy boys on the way there.

(I don't know how many of this exact same picture I have of Jason. Hat. Mouth open. Driving.)
(I even made it on the camera.)

And two sleepy boys on the way back.

We finished the week with a date night "in" and brownies.
More evidence of Amos' developing sweet tooth.  He stole Jason's job.

Silas John - Week 21

Silas' love for his exesaucer grew exponentially this week.  In may have something to do with the fact that his big brother comes over and talks to him and plays peek-a-boo with him while he's in it.

Silas wins the award for "Most Flexible" this week.  While traveling, he learned to sleep in several new places and because he didn't want to miss out on all the fun, he cut his normal nap times in half.

His laugh cracks me up.  It sounds like my sister's when she gets really worked up.
Rolling no longer takes a lot of effort on Si's part.  He rolls on to his tummy with ease and just started to roll to his back.  Look out, world, here comes Sly Guy!
He's wearing 6-9 months clothes.  It's so weird that Amos was wearing the outfit above at about this same time last year.  Besides rolling up the sleeves, it fits pretty good.

Early morning wake-ups have not ceased.  I'm thinking its about time to start cereal and see if extra calories will fix the problem.
This is how Mom feels about waking up at 5:00 a.m.

Peek-a-boo makes him laugh.

We're right on the verge on moving to the 4 hour schedule.  Oh, happy day!
He's our laid back little guy.  If he starts getting worked up, it's probably time for a nap.

Haircut...Silas Version

I know, I know, I know.  He's ONLY 5 months old (not even quite that).  But he's got crazy hair as I may have mentioned before.  Plus my sister, was putting on the pressure to take care of this developing "rat tail."
So, I busted out the clippers and did a little shaving.  I also cut off close to an inch from the length on top.  Don't worry, I saved some of it.  Here's the shave.  Note: The red spots are not from the haircut.  I think we may have found a birthmark under all that hair.

It actually looks a ton better.  He's officially got a hairstyle.  He may now be the most stylish of the family.

On the farm...

We had a great time visiting family this weekend in Lebanon.  The time always goes too fast.  I managed to snap a few pictures amidst it all.

Two boys in the tub!

Silas John - Week 20

So, words can't describe how much I love the above picture. The hair.

Silas loves to be on his tummy.  I'll lay him down somewhere on his back and later find him on his tummy.

Silas has woke early (5:00 am early) almost every day this week.  At first, I was freaking out a little, but supposedly this is somewhat normal.  Around 4-5 months babies wake early.  I hope he stops soon.

The spit-up is slowing down. Hooray! Sometimes, he doesn't spit up at all after a feeding. I know, crazy.  It's nice when my baby smells like shampoo instead of spit-up.
Less spit-up, more drool!  And somebody now likes to chew.
Dr. appointment was this week.  Check that out here.  Look at this chunk.

A runny nose and slight cough have been Silas' companions for the last several days.  I hope they go away and never come back.

With longer waketime, naps have been much better.  However, this has not helped with the early morning wake-ups.

Longer waketime means more time to play.  I feel like we can actually get out of the house and do something in that window.  We may try the library this week.

And nice new layer of hair is coming in.  Maybe soon he won't look like he's wearing a toupee.

We hung out with a bunch of family.  And tomorrow, Lebanon here we come!
