For me, this spring break was the perfect balance between work, fun, and rest. Past spring breaks have seemed to fly by going here or there. They are also fun, but maybe not quite as balanced.
After having got a lot of things accomplished at the beginning of the week and on the rainy days, we took Friday to steal away to Silver Dollar City with friends. We've had season passes for the last 3 years (thanks to my wonderful grandparents) but this was the first year we made it in March. We hope to wear those tickets out this year.
We were in the car, pulling away, by 8am. Then Jason realized he forgot his sunglasses. We were back on the rode at 8:15. It was super foggy that morning!
Every time I smell those cinnamon rolls upon entering Silver Dollar City, I want one. On Friday, we planned to grab one as second breakfast and finally enjoy their goodness. What a disappointment!! First, we stood in line for a good 20 minutes. Then they heated up our cinammon rolls which had probably been sitting there for an hour. They tasted ok, but definitely not the wonderful goodnesss I was expecting. At least now I will happily bypass the wonderful cinnamon roll smell onto the rides.
Silas was upset that he had to share.
Amos and I took the first ride of the day on the big swings! He's so brave. We then headed to the kid section where we found out that Silas was 1/2 inch short of riding most of the rides. Maybe this summer he'll make up the differences. OR I'll find him some really tall shoes!
Amos rode the boat with me because Jason refuses to ride those types of rides. I love them. I hope Amos will too. I asked him to hold up his hands with me, but he wasn't quite ready for that. However, later on his solo ride on the lady bugs, he was.
Matt, Ashley & Miles met up with us at the park. It was fun to have someone to share the day with.
They all headed into the kids play house and Ivan and I stayed outside. This is how he felt about that.
We finished the day with dinner on the landing before heading home. They were out like a light upon hitting the interstate. And that never happens.
Most of Saturday was wonderfully uneventful, except for our long run! The Edens were up for watching the boys on that beautiful day and Mom and Dad hit the trail. We made our 12 miles and much quicker than we thought! I think we may be able to do this race after all.
Sunday brought time with friends and time together. Most of it was spent outside. Extra cups of coffee. Eating on the deck. Catching up on some reading. Sunsets!
