We had our doctor check-up this week, marking 2 months. Amos looked “perfect” the doctor said. He weighed in at 12 lbs 12 oz and was 24 inches long. And we heard what we already knew; he has a big head – 17 ½ inches around. Along with the check-up came his first round of shots. He was a trooper though. I held his hands and watched his face. It changed dramatically when the shots went in. Once Mom and Dad got to hold him, he calmed down quickly and was smiling again before we left. For the next couple of days though, he didn’t seem quite himself. He was just a little out of it. Luckily it didn’t last long and we have a little guy back.
After 10 weeks, there are a lot of things that he doesn’t do anymore. I’ve come up with the top 10.
Amos doesn’t:
1. Sleep in the same crib. Long story short, our $30 find ended up breaking in a pretty crucial spot. Which meant, I needed to find him a new crib. Being the “Craigslister” that I am, I jumped on the site and began the search. I found a couple of things that I liked, but in the end, we decided to go with a new crib. We knew there were more kids to come and something starting off fresh might be the way to go. But to be honest, I don’t like it as well as the old crib. It’s nice, and pretty and can convert to a full bed someday, but it just doesn’t fit as well! You win some and you lose some.
2. Sleep all the time. We can pretty much count on a solid hour of “wake” time after each feeding! This is the time that he likes to play and he’s always so happy! However, he is learning to sleep at the right time. Just recently he’s started sleeping for long stretches of time at night. This makes Mom very happy, and rested!
3. Sleep on his back. I promise these aren’t all sleeping related, but hey, how many other things does a baby do? I can think of two. Pretty much from the start, Amos did a fantastic job at holding his head up. Notice below, he can push himself up to pretty much a 90-degree angle. With that being said, Jason and I decided that we were comfortable with putting him on his stomach to sleep. A boy does he sleep!!!!!!
4. Refuse to smile. I know this is a bit of a double negative, but if you remember, for about the first 5 weeks of life, we had a Mr. Frowny Face. Frowny faces still come out at times, but for the most part we are generally pleasant, if not happy!
5. Wear disposable diapers. It’s been probably four weeks since Amos has had a disposable diaper on his little tushy! I really thought that we would have him still in disposables at times, but no situation has merited it yet! He sure looks cute in a diaper.

6. Have a receding hairline. Amos came out with a lot of hair, and really didn’t lose much. Luckily everything he lost is growing back in nicely.

7. Wear a swaddle. I loved the swaddle to start with, but after 8 weeks of swaddling for every nap and nighttime, it got old. Once he found his thumb, I figured he could use his hands to comfort himself. We dropped the swaddle, and we haven’t looked back.

8. Ever have a dry face. Besides his normal spit-ups, he’s now got a new trick – drooling! We can’t keep the boy’s face clean!

9. Look like an old man. If you remember back, he came out all wrinkling and grumpy, looking just like a little old man. Now can you guess who he looks like?
10. Fear The Daddy Kiss. I think all that scratchy stuff is finally growing on him. I guess he had better get used to it! Because the beard is not going anywhere.
