monday recap: first weekend off

After 6 consecutive weekends (and weeks) of working on the house straight through, we finally took a weekend off.  Jason had been faithfully training for a 25K trail run all summer, up until said 6 consecutive weeks of house work.  However, he didn't let a little thing like training get in the way of running his race.

Jason's parents offered to watch the boys Saturday and Sunday, allowing us a night away!  We headed down Friday after work and enjoyed all the family.  These kiddos have so much fun together.

We didn't let the cool day keep us from being outside.

And once it warmed up a little, it was the perfect day for a visit to Bennett Springs State Park.
We spent a lot of time feeding and watching the fish.

Check out this trickster.  He was pretty proud of walking backwards away from me, until he fell and face planted.

And then we hit up one of the trails.

I love this picture!  My three guys!

More exploring...
Silas almost made it up.  He started slipping and then decided maybe not.

Saturday afternoon we left the boys for probably the last time before baby #3's debut.  We very leisurely (I'm taking it pretty slow these days) walked Branson Landing and then ate at the White River Fish House.  Over dinner, we tried to settle on a boy name.  Still no luck.  I guess we'll just have to have a girl.

We were up very early on Sunday in order to make it down to Dogwood Canyon for the run.  It ended up being a perfect morning for a run.  Jason took of with some 500 other crazies to climb up and down hills, run through streams, and take in all the sites.  I returned to the car for a little snooze.  But headed back out to the finish line after a little while, because I didn't want to miss any of the finishers.  Jason caught me off guard again this year.  He finished last year in 3 hours and 5 minutes.  By the way he talked, he wouldn't be any faster than that this year.  However, I saw him coming down the last hill before I was even ready to take a picture.  He finished under 3 hours and 10 minutes faster this year!!!!

Here's my bearded runner!  5th in his age division, 1st for runner with the longest beard.
