conrad jay - week 27

Conrad turned six months this past Thursday. I've tried to do a mini photo shoot with all the boys at this age, and Conrad couldn't be left out.

Here's how the boys line up.

Conrad still prefers to be on his back most of the time. He's getting much stronger at sitting unsupported, but what he really loves to do is throw his legs around in a way that moves him towards something. He's finding new places this way.

I've been giving him some baby cereal most mornings. At first, he hated it. Now it almost seems like he likes it. Or, at least, is excited about eating something.

My exciting news is that I chopped my hair off this week. I've been wanting to do it, so when my hairdresser popped up with a few open spots, I jumped on it. I think it may be the shortest I've gone, but I love it!

Friday brought this guy's 6 month check-up! No concerns, and he's definitely growing!

We had a couple of other plans for that day, but I forgot about it being Veteran's Day, so when everything else was closed, we settled for the park. And we had it all to ourselves!

This may have been Conrad's first time on a swing. He definitely liked it, but he was looking into the sun, so I couldn't get a good picture of him.

Friday and Saturday, I got to go out with friends, while Jason stayed home with the boys! Everyone had a great time.

The day may have even involved shakes as dinner! And they were so worn out they couldn't finish them on the way home because they were too tired.

Sunday brought lots of fun celebrating birthdays at Grammy and Gramps house. Everyone brought their bikes and we went down to the school and rode everybody out.

On Monday we celebrated in our Vance Fashion! Lots of singing, blowing out of candles and special family date! By the end of the day, Ivan changed from saying he was one, to saying he was two. It was a happy birthday!

conrad jay - week 26

On Thursday, he hits 6 months. These past months have gone by so fast, but I feel as though I've done a little better job soaking them up than I did with the other boys. I guess that's what happens when it is your last. Oh, and it helps that he's such an easy baby.

He's been working on sitting this week, and leftover birthday balloons sure help in the process. He's got the whole tripod thing down, but he's still pretty tipsy.

We spent most of the week recovering from our previous week. I was happy to be at home and enjoy some low key days. For school, Silas' letter was H. After reading Harold and the Purple Crayon, a favorite, the boys created their own versions. Ivan was, of course, involved too!

I've been wanting to add a little more life to the kitchen. With a roll of really skinny, black tape, this is what I came up with. We'll see where I go from here. But it is an improvement.

Another favorite thing from this week, was Amos spending lots of time reading to his brothers, especially Silas. They found a new big book of stories that we hadn't read and sat there for an hour reading through it! Melts my heart.

Our weekend brought some hiking, babysitting kids, and a big bonfire with friends! It was restful in the best of ways....
AND THEN THE TIME CHANGE!!!! Let's just say, Sunday night was not restful and Monday paid the consequences. Which Presidential Candidate will stop the time change??? Just kidding. Sorta.

I did get a lot more time to play with this guy yesterday. He was boycotting all naps.

Hearing us talking about the elections and voting and president. Amos decided he definitely wanted to vote and maybe be president. Jason let them cast their ballots.

conrad jay - week 25

Here's a little special Halloween weekly photo. He squeezed into our pumpkin costume. Literally one button broke. I guess it's good he is the last one!!

We had quite the past week! Lots of fun things, but also half the family was sick in the span of the week.

Jason had a sort of cold over the weekend, but we thought he was getting better. Then all his symptoms came back with the addition of a rash! What? A rash that would come and go and pop up in a bunch of different spots. And I succumbed to the virus towards the end of the week. The two older boys and Conrad didn't get it! Thank you OILS!

We did a bit of experimenting with Baby Oatmeal this week! He wasn't a fan. We'll wait a couple week and try again.

But he sure is cute, bib and all. His brothers were pretty excited about him eating. They were quite disappointed when he spit it all out.

We took a lot of pictures this week, but I've written individual blogs on all the fun things. You can check out Silas' birthday over here.

We had so much fun seeing lots of family and friends over the weekend while celebrating Silas.

Mommy stayed home from church on Sunday to rest up. This guy helped me.

Conrad is quite the baby! He goes along with us and never complains. Some of my favorite things from this age are: the bashful look he gives me when he's really excited, rocking together after nursing when no one else is awake, the way he's experimenting with his little tongue, and how loud he gets when he really starts talking. Trying to soak up all things baby before he turns 6 months old next week.

silas john's 4th birthday

My second baby is now four, but he has promised me that he is stopping here and will not grow older! He's the only one who I can get to agree to this. Although, I think he has a sneaky suspicion that it's not going to work.

With a four year old, a count down was in order. Once October rolled around, Silas started asking if it was his birthday tomorrow. Too bad he had the whole month to wait. With a week to go, we stuck up a quick countdown and each morning he would come tell me, with a big smile on his face, how many days until his birthday.
