my three little men: week 30

Most of this week was spent on vacation. I plan to do a full post about our fun times, but I didn't want to miss putting up this good looking guys weekly picture.

We found out what a trooper he really is this week. He slept about as half as much as he normally does, and in all kinds of places. On me, in the carseat, in the stroller. You name it. Let's play Can-You-Spot-Ivan...

Even though he won't remember any of it, I know he appreciated all the extra attention he got this week. He had the whole Eden family to love on him.

He's been sleeping like a dream today! I think he likes being home too!

weekend recap: kids fun run

We've been busy since I last posted. We had a full weekend, and then hit the roads for our first ever family vacation. Summer is so wonderful.

Saturday, we were able to celebrate our friends Miles' 2nd Birthday. There was a mention of water, so Amos and Silas had the swimming suits on from noon on. It was a dog birthday, so Silas had to warm up to the fact that there were real dogs there. He didn't mind this adorable dog cupcake, too much.

We definitely enjoyed our time with friends. And the boys did manage to get soaked as well. The perfect way to cool off that hot Saturday.

Sunday was race day. With Jason and I racing from time to time, the boys are always very interested in doing the same. So when I found out about a completely free fun run for them, I quickly signed us up. They were very into it.

This guy was very into it too! Ha! Not so much, but he was a trooper.
It was fun to run with friends too! We met up with all the Corcoran girls to run.
Amos did great! He got to the end and thought, "that's it?" We may wait to do it again until he's old enough to race around the whole track. He was ready for that.
Silas may have not been the fastest, but he had the best form. Never want to forget his little two year old run.

We had some tired boys that night! They rested well and we loaded up for our St. Louis vacation. More on that to come.

my three little men: week 29

What a week! Our first week of summer seemed very laid back. This one, not so much. Not sure how that seems to happen, but it has been pretty non-stop since Monday.

Lots of fun. And. Lots of work.

Monday started out with dinner with Amelia & Matthew and the kids. We love our family. Lots of screaming accompanied this picture.

Tuesday was packed full. The boys spent the morning with Dad. Doing some of this. While Ivan and I helped Rachel clean her new house. Ivan wasn't much help, but he sure was good.

He's been a bit of a dream this week. I hope that doesn't mean next week he'll be a bear. We are leaving for a mini-vacation on Monday. I think his homeopathic tablets work even better than his previous medicine. It makes sense because they are suppose to help heal his system rather than supress his symptoms.

That same afternoon, we loaded up and headed to NW Arkansas for a family hike and dinner with friends. The hike information was very misleading and we ended up about an hour away from where we wanted to be and not even the correct trail. Our trail was suppose to be a gorgeous 1/2 mile hike on a natural sidewalk. Instead we found an overgrown trail that we were not prepared for. I got a tick! And if you know me, you know I HATE TICKS. Luckily none of the boys got one.

We redeemed our hike with dinner with Rodney and Shawna who have recently moved down there. It was so good to catch up with them and enjoy their family. We hope to make NW Arkansas visits alot this summer.

Wednesday brought some of this. Out with the old. (Day and a half of craz-i-town) In with the new.

Nana and Papa to the rescue.

Here comes a little personality. If you give a little look, you get a cheesy grin from this guy. He's happy if someone is there to play with him. Good thing he has got brothers. He's definitley been the most needy of the three, but with that need comes the most adorable smiles and love.

Those legs. He sits and sits and sits. And jumps and jumps and jumps. He tries to crawl but doesn't get to far. Lots of food going into this guys mouth. Lots of good sleeping. Like I said, it's been a good week on the Ivan's end.

We are ready for a break from some house projects and St. Louis, I think, will fit the bill. More on that next week.

weekend recap: nana and papa to the rescue

I am blessed with wonderful in-laws. While we were at their house last weekend, Papa realized that our radiator was leaking. This week he called saying he had ordered a new one and was coming this weekend to put it in. Yes, blessed!

The boys were estatic (it's fun because 2 and 3 year olds really do do estactic) that Nana and Papa were coming to our house and spending the night!

Saturday turned off cool, but that didn't stop the boys from being outside with Daddy and Papa as they worked on the cars. They even washed our van and vacuumed it out.

Saturday brought a trip to Lucky Js. We've tried to take them there the last several visits, but it has always been too busy. Not Saturday. Too bad that meant no horses in the arena either. There were a few outside the boy got to look at before dinner. The burgers didn't disappoint. Bacon and spinach artichoke dip on a burger. Yum!

With church starting at 11, we had a big breakfast and enjoyed our two cups of coffee. There is something special about talking over coffee. Nana and Papa visited church with us and had lunch before heading home.

We all came home and napped. Even Mama! Then went for a long drive. I forgot to feed my sons dinner ( we had smoothies around 5. Does that count?) Amos woke hangry this morning. Apparently they aren't ready for a big Sunday lunch and no dinner.

my three little men: week 28

He's one week older and look at those teeth. Update on the teething necklace: we just performed another accidental experiement, where I forgot to put it on and didn't realize it until a day later. Jason and I kept going "why is he so fussy?" He couldn't be left alone and took two terrible naps. That seems a little much to be a coincendent to us. We're believers in the baltic amber.

He wants to move, move, move. But hasn't made much progression on his inching around. It might not be long though because he seems rather motivated.

This guy loves to eat. Loves it. He has yet to turn down anything offered. He just can't get enough of it.

After our long weekend, we took our week pretty easy. The boys and Dad have done some sort of exploring almost every day. I love it. I've gotten to run around and get more things done, rather than saving it for the weekend. And, we've already crossed off a couple of house projects.

It seems like our consitency with following through with consequences is finally starting to pay off with Amos. While at Nana and Papa's house, Jason told Amos he had to wash his hands. Amos did not want to wash his hands and starting chanting, "I'm not washing my hands." Jason stood up and Amos changed his tune. "I am washing my hands." We both just smiled - we're reaping some of the benefits of what we have consistently sown. Silas is a bit of a different story and is just now figuring out his definant "no."

These guys are such good brothers to Ivan. Silas is always quick with a toy if Ivan is every fussy, and Amos is the best at making Ivan laugh. He's awfully lucky. And I think we are going to have a great summer!

the first weekend of summer: memorial day

We had an extra long weekend. Jason finished up for the year last Thursday and we hit the road for Lebanon. The boys were super, super, super, excited. I burned a couple of new kids cds (ones that hopefully wouldn't hurt Jasonn's ears too much) and that pretty much entertained them the 2 hours there.

Jason did some late night fishing and the boys did some late night giggling. They were sharing a bed and the excitement of the trip took a while to wear off.

We had a big slumber party with the cousins. That meant there was a lot of playtime in the morning. We celebrated with a BIG breakfast and play time outside.

Jason and I stole away for a lunch date that afternoon. We went up to Osage Beach and ate at a Mexican Restaurant with a river view. Luckily I was in Jason's periphrial as he viewed the lake.

That night we ate out with family, and the kids were a hoot with the peanuts. They were using every means they could think of to crack them open. Emma didn't like them, but she kept making a pile for Amos to eat.

The rain cooled everything off on Saturday, but then cleared out of the area so we headed to Bennett Springs State Park. The pools of fish never disappoint.

We did some off road exploring!
This was Ivan's first time in the swing. I think he liked it.
And I managed to capture a classic stair-step picture. This might be gallery wall worthy. I love these three guys so much, and the guy in the background is pretty great too!

More exploring before hitting the road for home.

But that wasn't the end of our long weekend. On Monday, we decided to take a day trip to see my mom and dad. They are headed out of the country on a trip, so we thought we would get in a quick visit before they leave.

We even got to skype with Uncle Joe. Amos became a crazy man and was really giving him a show.
