roar...amos is four

Well that happened too quick. How, how, how? Every year is faster. Here's my crazy one-year-old.

Who became my inquisitive 2-year-old.

Who turned into an exploring 3-year-old.

And is now an adventurous 4-year-old.

He's been waiting and waiting for his birthday. I thought it appropriate to give him a little 7 day countdown. He loved it and informed me several times a day how many more days were left.

A while back he told me he wanted a dinosaur themed birthday, so we went with it. I found 1/2 off dinosaur costume while shopping for birthday stuff, making a perfect present. Luckily, we had almost everything else.

The best part about birthday's is the people you get to share it with. And we got to share this one with a lot of friends and family.
The dinosaur dig was a hit. And I did somehow manage to get the sand all cleaned up.
Amos got some really cool presents and has had a blast playing with them since.
Please notice Silas' assist here. Perfect little brother move.
We saved the best for last. The dinosaur hunt. Jason led the way.
Climbing across the dangerous cliff.
Crossing the rickety bridge.
Running through the raging watefall.
And finally finding the dangerous T-REX!
We fought the dinosaur.
And won!

I guess he gets to be four. I kept trying to convince him to stay three, but he wouldn't have any of it. And now he's already talking about next year when he turns 5. Aaah! We love you, Amos.

my three little me: week 33

We started this week off working, and finished it off at the lake. I always enjoy good work days that are followed by good fun days.

Our living room took a major change this week. We went from this beauty.

To this.

And somehow managed to get it all cleaned up before having friends over for dinner.

Ivan has a mean scoot going on. He works it from his toes. He can be found in many new places.

Gone are the days of leaving him in one place and finding him there. But he loves his freedom. He was getting a litle frustrated by his lack of movement. Every new thing is a little bittersweet. I love watching him figure things out. His brothers love him figuring things out too. Lately, he'll stand up at his music table. Silas has to make sure that I am not holding him at all and then will proclaim, "Ivan is standing."

Besides tearing down the beam, we've been getting ready for Amos' big birthday party. His friends are coming over on Sunday to hunt for dinosaurs with him. He's ready.

He was even doing some tricks.

Jason watched the boys at my parent's house on Thursday so that I could tag along with my sister and her husband while they house hunted. House hunting is a blast, and even more fun when it's not your house.

That evening, we left the boys with my parents and headed to NW Arkansas for a belated birthday date night. We were living it up and didn't get home until after midnight. What? I know.

The next morning, we slept in and finally visited The Bruncheontte before heading to the lake. It was wonderful. Are bellies were full and ready for a day at the lake. This was Ivan's first lake visit.

Mooseman jumped right into the water. He was ready for some swimming.
Silas was more of a toe toucher. He hasn't quite mastered swimming with his floaties and is still a little fearful of the water. He was quick to jump back up when the waves got too big.
And this guy loved it. Too young to be afraid.
The old man!!!!
We forgot the pac-n-play so this was the only option. It wasn't a very long nap, but it sure was sweet.
Daddy's still got it.
We got stuck in a downpour. Silas and Grammy didn't mind.

Always checking on brother. He loves when he tries new thing. He's always so surprised by it.

Looking good, Ivan. The lake lookes good on you. Next year you'll be with them.

Their favorite part of the day was definitley the tube and the seadoo. The rode the tube for about 20 minutes. And went fast on the seadoo. "It was like a motorcycle," Amos informed me.

Here's Ivan doing what he does best these days...eating. Grammy and Gramps found out how much he likes to eat. Don't think I'll have a problem weaning him in a month. He'd rather be eating.
I see no resemblance. None at all. Ha!

daddy turns thirty-one

I think Amos was more excited about Jason's birthday, than Jason was. As I closed the door the night before the birthday, Amos was whispering "and tomorrow is Dada's birthday..."

When I got him up the next morning and told him we were going to the gym, he exclaimed, "What about Daddy's birthday?" All day long he kept waiting for everyone to arrive and get this party started. He had a little trouble understanding that WE were the party.

It helped when we blew-up balloons and wrapped his presents. He started to get the hang of things when we celebrated with Birthday brownies before dinner. Opened presents had steak for dinner.

Silas knew exactly what to get Daddy - a bag of Cocoa Pebbles.

And then celebrated again with icecream after an evening walk.

The rain ruined some of our morning plans, so we just put them off until Saturday. Which was beautiful. We made our way down to George Washington Carver for lunch and some exploring.

This was the first time there with the boys and we were pleasanting surprised by how nice and interesting the walk was. The boys loved all the bridges and water crossings. I think they ran at least 3/4 of the way, because "they are fast."

We had a great time celebrating Jason turning 31.
