Seven weeks! How the time flies. Conrad joined us at the Lodge of the Four Seasons this past weekend. He was pretty smitten with having us all to himself.
We got a lot more smiles this week. That really is one of the best firsts. He's still a pretty chill baby. When he's awake, he's content to watch the crazy world around.
And believe me, it is pretty crazy sometimes. Especially with these crazy big brothers. Wipes on the head. Why not? And Ivan's family lip purse. He uses this face for most occasions.
This big brother still participates in the crazy, but sometimes he's started acting a bit older. I guess he is almost five. FIVE?? He's really taking off with reading and sits around trying to figure out all kinds of new words! I'm so excited for the world that's about to open up before him in books.

Amos had some excitement this week. We found out that for our insurance, we needed to get his five year shots done before he turned five. We waited until about an hour before the appointment to tell him about it. We knew we didn't want to give him too much time to think about it, but just enough to process it. We went through the whole spectrum of emotions before leaving the house. But a "shot" toy motivated him to go ahead with the whole thing. He got to pick it out, but not open it until after the shots.
In the waiting room, it seemed like things were going to go ok, but then he found out that he was getting two (they happened at the same time) and he about lost it then. The doctor even made him a balloon animal, but he knew what was coming. Let's just say, there was a lot of screaming. "Help me, help me, help me."
On the way out, I asked him if it hurt and he said, "I couldn't even feel it because I was screaming so much." Uh huh!
The drama of the doctor's office was quickly forgotten because we were headed to Nana and Papa's house. And that makes up for anything.

And Emma was excited to see this guy once again! She's a good little mama.
Our church had a get-together at the Lake of the Ozarks, so we dropped the three older boys off at Nana and Papa's and headed to the lake for two nights! And it just happened to be over Jason's birthday weekend! Perfect timing.
Conrad is still small enough, we almost forget about him.. just kidding. But it did feel weird to have just one kid and one that couldn't move at that. Here's Conrad in our room. It overlooked the lake and was nice and cool!
We ate out fancy for dinner to celebrate Jason. We both had delicious seafood meals and felt like we were dining fine!
The weekend was full of good time with friends and great worship and teaching. I felt like we got to linger over things a little longer than we would have with all the kids with us.
On Jason's actual birthday, we visited a place called Hot Bacon. Jason has a love affair with bacon. So we knew that it would be the perfect place to celebrate Jason's actual birthday.

We're slowly adjusting to being back home this week. This guy did great the whole time we were gone. He slept everywhere, or sometimes didn't sleep, but he is starting to have some 7 hour stretches at night, so that is wonderful! Sleep. It's coming back!
He's really starting to notice his hands and things hanging around him. It's so much fun to see him starting to interact with his world.
