8 Months Old
Its that time again! Another month has passed with lots of exciting happenings! After just beginning to crawl at the start of last month, Amos has taken off. It didn't take him long to figure how to pull up to everything - crib, TV armoire, legs, etc. It took just a little bit longer --thankfully-- to learn how to sit back down. So now he can pretty much get wherever he wants. This hasn't happened without spills, but luckily, early on, my mom advised giving him a chance to be OK, without swooping in a saving him from the spills. I've taken it to heart, and found out we have a tough little boy on our hands. He face plants, whimpers, and then tries again!
He's a great eater, and quick too! We are still to a combo of pureed food and table food. I'm hoping this will be the last month for purees and we can exclusively eat "real" food. We shall see though. And his favorite way to drink is from a cup. Although it caused him a bunch of trouble last week, tooth #2 has yet to make an appearance above his gums.
He babbles quite a bit, but mostly when he is alone, or thinks he is alone. We hear him carrying on in his crib at the end of naps, or while in his car seat or stroller. Speaking of car seats, he's actually fallen asleep in his a couple of times. So hopefully we are past the -"No, I'm never going to sleep in my car seat"-phase.
We're down to two naps a day for the most part. Sometimes we squeeze in a third, and he still sleeps through the night - Hallelujah! He's content to spend his days moving from couch, to table, to toy chest and back. He doesn't seem to have a favorite toy, but just likes the variety. I just rotated his toys and he seemed rather thrilled to find some new guys in his toy chest.
Its been fun this month, watching him learn things. I can see his mind working as he decides he wants to do something and then figures out how to do it. The best is yet to come!

The Adventures of Jack Man
Grandma and Grandpa and Great Grandma Hubbard came for a
visit on Saturday. While Grandpa
and Dad worked on the scooter, RIP, Amos got to spend quite a bit of time
playing with his Grandmas.
Later
that day, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed to Wild Cat
Glades Park.
Amos still isn’t a big fan on the sun, but we are working on it.
It was also the first time ever for Amos or the Grandparents
to see the largest continuous flowing waterfall in the state of Missouri! I know, pretty cool!
After the great outdoors, we headed to
the new Chinese Restaurant for dinner.
It was packed, so Amos loved watching all the people and, especially
munching on a fortune cookie and stir fried green beans!
The only other news is the tooth 2 will soon be making an
appearance. We had a pretty rough
day on Monday (lots of crying and no sleeping) that I think can be chalked up
to teething! Luckily today he is
much better. Also, it only took
Amos a couple of days to figure out how to go from standing to sitting. He is officially into everything!

Got to be Standing
Like the title says, this guy has got to be standing. Luckily for us, he can pretty much do it on his own. He pulls up to everything and is even shimming and scooting from place to place.
He has yet to figure out how to go from standing to sitting. This means when he wakes up in the middle of his nap and thinks, "Oh, I could stand up," he doesn't know how to get down when he realizes "Wait, I am still tired." Which usually results in this:
After the second nap of this, I came up with a new plan: move him to the pac-n-play! Surely he can't stand up in there. He can. I guess are only hope it to teach him how to get down. How do you do that?
He's found new places and I had better watch out. All of the sudden he's gotten pretty speedy. I step out of the room only to step back in and find across the room or here:

We saw lots of family this week! Josie and Amos love to play together.
Sometimes it is "parallel" play!
Sometimes its not!
Amos received a new thing to push from Grammy and Gramps for Valentines day. It is not a shopping cart, its a cook out cart! It is full of ketchup, mustard, salt and pepper and maple syrup!

Mr. Tongue has also reappeared this last week! I think he's figured out about his tooth and loves to play with it.
Grandma and Grandpa Vance and visiting this weekend! He can't wait to show them all his new tricks!

Like Father, Like Son
We were just sent some photos of Jason between the ages of 6-8 months and couldn't believe the resemblance.

Ta Da!
Normally I hear Amos making some noise in his crib before I go and get him from his nap. Today I hadn't heard a peep, so I was quite surprise to find him like this: (except smiling! He burst out into tears when he saw me turn around and hurry out of the room for the camera!)

New Places, New Adventures
With the new ability to crawl came new places to crawl to, and new
adventures to have. This has been followed by more bumps and boo boos. Amos plays all over
the place these days. Here's a new spot:
And here's another:
His favorite things to do are still standing and
walking. He's pulling up to everything these days.
And loves to take Dino out for a spin!
It so fun that when he
sees me, he automatically starts smiling and heads my directions. However, the only reason he wants me is to use my hands to stand up. I'll take what I can get I guess.
We had a great week and weekend. Or should I say extended weekend? Jason got to stay home for a snow day on Monday and we had lots of fun. I told Jason that he wasn't allowed to do any school work. Instead we stayed in our pajamas and had a Bones marathon for part of the day. Here is Amos trying to watching the TV too. Luckily the door is in his way!
Daddy was trying to be reminiscent of weeks gone by and thought it would be fun to have Amos nap with him. Amos wasn't quite as compliant as he was at 1 month old.
