conrad jay - week 49

We started our week out with a fun trip to the Corcoran Garden.  Ms. Sarah gave us a lesson on gardens, seeds and what it takes to grow things.  

Then she let us help stir up the dirt in their beds.

Tuesday night we celebrated our 8 year anniversary with Mexican food.  I think this might be becoming an unplanned tradition.  Conrad sure liked it.

And Amos snapped this sweet picture of us after we got home.  

 Mr. Conrad sure likes to be up on the couch.  He thinks it is hysterical to throw himself back on the pillows.  

Jason didn't make it very long on movie night.  But I don't think Ivan seemed to mind.  He loves his Daddy!

Jason was preaching at my parent's church for their Good Friday service, so we all headed there a little early on Friday.  Amelia brought her kids, too, and we had such a blast.  I asked Silas what his favorite part of the weekend was,sure that he would say, the egg hunt, but he said "playing with Cilla!"

Conrad has a new fascination with remotes.  He know they hold the power.  And he knows Gramps will indulge him.

We managed to get all six onto the swing.  And it was a full swing.

 Conrad didn't mind the swinging part very much.

Before the Egg Hunt, the kids took the promised ride in Gramps' truck through Grampa Garrentt's cows.  Conrad and Solomon stayed behind to help hide the eggs.

Conrad was pretty content in his pool, but not Solly.  He's cruising all over the place.

Amos was the first one out once they got back.  He knew what he was looking for.

Easter Sunday at an all boy house, meant bow ties all around!  Amos was the only one who gave much of a fight.  Silas kept his on all day long.  I almost can't stand all the cuteness below.

After celebrating Easter with our church family, we were invited to new friends house to do more celebrating with a BIG lunch and lots of new friends!  It couldn't have been better.

And the boys were quick to start on their Easter present.  I knew a big puzzle would be the perfect challenge for them.

conrad jay - week 48

This is how Conrad felt about the frog we caught.

We started out last week by finding a toad.  The boys were so excited the catch it and house it.  And then something cooler happen, the toad ate a worm they had previously caught.  For a boy, does it get any cooler than that??

Amos' special day this month involved biking with Dad.  Jason ran along with hiim, but Amos said he could beat him.

Then they went to Sonic to cool off!

On Thursday we hit the trail with friends.  Nyssa's pointing out the nest we spotted in the tree. We had fun practicing the art of observation.

And almost all the kids climbed up the overpass.  I had to go up behind my crazy one *cough*IVAN!  Those are some brave kids.

Jason took Friday off and we headed to NW Arkansas for a family day.  We can no longer visit without hitting up the Amazeum.  The boys found lots to entertain them.

They had a new building section that I thought was so cool.  Walls could be built, houses painted, and tiled laid.  

And I love that they have two little spots for the littlest of guys.  Conrad had fun exploring away from all the big kids.

And the Wal-mart section was a hit again!  The food is so real.  I would have loved this place as a kids.  I kinda still do.

We lunched at Crystal Bridges.  Amos had trouble staying on the sidewalk when there was so much to explore.  

Over the weekend we got to have dinner with friends.  And there were a lot of boys!  They all played so well together.

Oh, doesn't that look fun to play in?

More digging.  Always digging.

The boys rode bikes all morning long.  Silas was known as "Speed Lightning."  Ivan was called, "Thunderation."  And Amos we dubbed, "Faster than Fast."  Good naps were the result.

conrad jay - week 47

Conrad says, "Let me at that hole!"

This week's going to be a short one.  We spent most of it getting back to normal.

The weather has been really wet, but that's what rain boots are for.  I keep sending the boys outside to run off some of their energy.  In the picture below, Silas is telling me that he's going to stab a spider through the heart with the pointy end of the stick he is holding.  His words, not mine.

Ivan's new favorite place is on his bike!  Strider for the win.  He's getting pretty good at it.  And I think it may still have enough left in it for Conrad when he's ready!

Conrad and I have been trying to make it outside more too!  He loves being out there with brothers!  And I've got to soak this overcast weather up before it starts to get hot.  So far, he's doing a pretty good job of just staying on the blanket.  

The boys are working on digging a huge hole.  It started out pretty harmless, but now it may be getting out of hand.  Can they reach our septic?  They keep finding old bottles which spurs on their motivation for more treasure!  Oh boy!

It took a few days for us to get back into the swing of school too!  Breaks always seem like a good idea until you have to return back from them.  

This week, we are spying on all our trees to see what kind of new growth is happening.  My knowledge level of trees is zero, so this was fascinating for me too.  We found out which of our trees are the same and which ones are different.  We're going to keep watching them and see if we can guess which kind they are.  This then lead to a discussion on directions and Amos creating a compass.  I love one he get's inspired by learning.  

And I had to stick in this blurry picture to illustrate Conrad's curly top!  It made me think of Silas' hair.  Which made me pull up a picture of Silas.  They're similarities are amazing!  I guess they are brothers.
