get us outside

Up until the last few days, we've spent a lot of time outside.  Jason and I love cold weather, and it seems as if our boys don't mind it either!

After a very busy October, our November has been pretty laid back.  Our days are full of this:

Happy Friday!

lately

Well we've finally entered the phase of stalling bedtime.  I blame the time change.  Amos has been so good about going to bed.  We close his bedroom door and don't hear him until 7:30 the next morning.  That has all changed in these last two weeks.

Here are some of his excuses, which normally are yelled from his bedroom.

"I've got to go poopy!" (This is after already going to the bathroom before bed.)
Read and book!
My back is itching.  He tries to use this one a lot.  I guess he thinks a itchy side merits coming out of bed and having us scratch it.
My button is undone.  Footie pajamas have a little snap at the top to cover the zipper.  He was literally in tears by the time I came in to check on him.  HE HAD TO HAVE THE BUTTON SNAPPED!
Where's my elephant? (or one of the other zillion things he sleeps with)

It didn't help that he figured out how to beat the child-proof door handle.  Just rip it off the door and open it.  That meant he got to leave his room on his own terms.  One night, we woke up to Amos crawling into our bed at 3am.  He had to go poopy!

I took out my roll of ducktape and fixed that problem.  He can no longer rip the door handle off.  I don't expect it to be long until he figures out how to use the child-proof door handle properly.  But I bought us a little time.

Other than that, we've seemed to overcome the time change yet again!  We're glad to be back to our normal routine.

In Silas news, he's SO fun!

There's something magical about turning ONE!  The shift from baby to toddler seems to happen so quickly!  He knows what's going on and he's communicating what he needs/wants.  He tries to say words: All done, buh bye, more.  He's figured out he has a nose.  He growls when he sees any animals: tigers, fish, bunnies.  He's still pretty laid back, but he makes sure he's not forgotten.

family photos

Silas is finally part of our family picture.  We last got pictures taken when Amos was 4 months old.  I love those pictures, but Amos doesn't really look like himself.  So I didn't want to get new pictures taken until Silas was old enough to have his own distinct look.  I love them and can't wait to hang them up in our house. ENJOY!

It was fun getting ready for them and picking out our outfits.  I may have drove my husband a little crazy talking about it, but we had a fun day.  I think he's glad we won't be taking family pictures again for a couple of years!

amos' october

We had such a fun, full October! Every video, I'm reminded how big my little baby is getting.  He's quite the little boy.

and he's off...

Silas has been taking one or two steps together for a little over a month now.    He realized on his birthday that this could actually come in useful and walked across the room.  He's getting more adventurous with it every day.  Momma's glad this 22 lb. baby will be walking on his own two legs soon!  Bring on the park!

a "WILD" halloween

Last week, we switched gears on the costumes.  I thought the boys were going to be miniature Jason's with beard hats and all.  However, they had different ideas, as neither of them would let me put the beard on them.  One of Amos' favorite bedtime books is Where the Wild Things Are.  So it didn't take long for me to switch gears.  I picked up 6 inches of fur material at JoAnn's and used an old towel to sew a quick wolf suit.  Luckily, Amos likes putting on his wolf suit.  The crown takes a little more persuading.  Silas already owned a Wild Thing jacket and I just added the horns and crazy pants.  Viola!

Our Halloween was full from start to finish!  Josie and Priscilla came over early to join us in trick-or-treating at the library.  Here's some shots of the kids together.  A group picture was hard to come by, but aren't they cute!
Minnie Mouse and the King of the Wild Things

Josie was all for the group picture.  The others weren't.
The Princess and her Wild Thing.
Another attempt at a group picture.

While trick-or-treating at the library, Amos wanted to eat each piece of candy as he got it.  He quickly learned that he was going to get more and was OK with putting it into his bucket.

After the library we headed to a play date at the Kirkpatrick's house.  Silas skipped his nap and did a really good job.  I think it helped that he was distracted by all the fun we were having.  He was real smiley all morning.

After naps, we had even more friends over for dinner before heading out to MSSU for trick-or-treating and games!  We had quite the time.  Man these kids are cute!
Scout went in for the hug.  Amos wasn't quite as sure about it.
 Our bouncy little Tigger!
What a belly!  We all had to check out how soft that thing was!
Our attempt at a group picture.
 The Builder in action!

 She's ready!
Oh yeah!  This is going to be fun!
They had the perfect games!  A lot of throwing and everyone wins candy!

 And from behind!

 Our buckets are full!
