Like Father, Like Son

We were just sent some photos of Jason between the ages of 6-8 months and couldn't believe the resemblance.

Ta Da!

Normally I hear Amos making some noise in his crib before I go and get him from his nap.  Today I hadn't heard a peep, so I was quite surprise to find him like this: (except smiling!  He burst out into tears when he saw me turn around and hurry out of the room for the camera!)

New Places, New Adventures

With the new ability to crawl came new places to crawl to, and new adventures to have.  This has been followed by more bumps and boo boos.  Amos plays all over the place these days.  Here's a new spot:

And here's another:

His favorite things to do are still standing and walking.  He's pulling up to everything these days.

And loves to take Dino out for a spin!

It so fun that when he sees me, he automatically starts smiling and heads my directions.  However, the only reason he wants me is to use my hands to stand up.  I'll take what I can get I guess.

We had a great week and weekend.  Or should I say extended weekend?  Jason got to stay home for a snow day on Monday and we had lots of fun.  I told Jason that he wasn't allowed to do any school work.  Instead we stayed in our pajamas and had a Bones marathon for part of the day.  Here is Amos trying to watching the TV too.  Luckily the door is in his way!

Daddy was trying to be reminiscent of weeks gone by and thought it would be fun to have Amos nap with him.  Amos wasn't quite as compliant as he was at 1 month old.

Kisses...

Amos and I have been practicing giving kisses for weeks.  Generally in the morning I ask him for kisses and make the smooch sound and give him a kiss.  And then he'll give me a kiss back - open mouthed, of course.  Well tonight, all that hard work paid off.  I was singing to him right before bed.  The lights were already off and we were just rocking.  Out of nowhere, he leans forward, open mouthed and plans a kiss on my lips.  I then make the smooch noise and asked for another, and he promptly leaned forward and gave me another!  It doesn't get much better than that!

Week 31

Last week started by Amos finally accomplished crawling (aka The Worm).  All week long he has gotten better at it, and now is using his hands too.  He's getting around pretty good and hasn't gotten into too much trouble yet.

Josie came over for a visit last week, and her and Amos had lots of fun together.  They definitely notice each other and just want to grab hold.  It won't be long until they are running around getting into everything together.

Saturday morning the Vance house got up early to head to KC to help Aunt Audi and soon to be Uncle Jason with their new home.  Amos didn't know what to think about the early rising.  He did greet us with what sounded like a dada.  Jason was pretty happy to hear that little tune.  We made the most of the early morning by brewing an extra large pot of coffee and getting donuts for the road.

While the adults were busy priming and painting the house, Josie and Amos took turns napping and jumping in Josie's jumper.  I don't know what it was about that jumper, but Amos went to town.

This week also marked the passing of Amos' 7 month.  It was fun to look back on all the things he learned this month.  I can't believe how fast change happens with babies.

I think I have a pretty good idea as to what is coming next.  He loves to pull-up and he knows where he wants to go.

We had our first Boo Boo last night.  Amos took a nose plant over the edge of Dino's leg.  We thought that it just shocked him, but later on, he had a bit of a bloody nose!  By that time, he was busy playing with something else and couldn't care less, but the sight of blood made Mommy a little sad.  Good thing he is tough!  I'm sure that is only the first.

In other news, Jason is on the job hunt.  For Jason, teaching these last three years has been a struggle, and we've pretty much decided it is time to look at other possibilities.  Please be praying for us as we seek the Lord in what he has in store for our family next!

7 Months, yesterday

7 Months really snuck up on me.  For a while I had been looking forward to him being six months old. So many people had told me how much fun they are at six months and how their personality really starts to come alive.  I guess I had been enjoying all those things so much that when Jason casually made the comment, "He's going to be 7 months old next week," I was shocked.  I thought, "No, that's still a ways off." But sure enough, I checked the calendar and he was right.

This month has been full of new things.  He started the month by really eating food.  We'd been dabbling in it before, but we decided to get down to business.  He loved real food - all kinds.  Early on he started to practice crawl.  It was obvious that he wanted to move so badly.  Last week, he finally got his wish and is now on the move.  He can anticipate things, so he loves games like "Peek-A-Boo" and "Where is Amos."  Later on in the month, the allusive first tooth popped out. It's got a friend, but we haven't seen him yet.  Amos' first sickness happened this month too.  Luckily it was pretty minor, but still not fun.

Its been a really fun month.  Everyone was right, he has "come alive".  But, the best is yet to come!

Its Baby-proofing Time...

He started this a couple days ago.  We call it The Worm!

Please leave a comment and tell me what I definitely shouldn't forget to baby-proof!
