It's only been 4 weeks and there is already so much to love...

We love...

his expressions.  If his eyes are open, we're bound to see something that will make us crack up!

how he fits perfectly in our arms.

his non-stop effort to hold is big head up.

his BIG eyes!

that he’d rather sleep in our arms than in his crib.

the noises he makes when he begins to fall asleep.

that he is sooo predictable.

how quickly he’s soothed in our arms.

that he’s a chunk and a hunk!

that he likes people.

the way his hair gets curly when its wet.

he enjoys his baths.  We know because he frowns the whole time.

that he's soft everywhere, especially his head.

that he's intense and focused.  He really doesn't want to miss anything!

We love that God blessed us with a little boy named Amos and that we get to be part of sharing the LOVE OF GOD with him.

Amos is over 10 lbs and will be a month old on Friday!

Week 3

In some ways, we can’t believe that three whole weeks have passed since Amos arrived and in others it feels like he has always been here.

Several exciting things happened this week.  First, Amos made the big move to his bedroom.  He started by taking some naps in bed, and then spent his first night in there.  Mom learned that the chair in the nursery is not conducive for remaining in a half sleep state during nightly feedings.  We are going to have to get something that allows me to rest my head against something soft.  For the most part, Amos has made a smooth adjustment.  I think his internal clock may be stuck somewhere around 3:30 or 4:00 a.m. when he thinks he needs to wake himself up.  Not out of hunger mind you, just to hang out with Mom for a little while.

He also met his other cousins, Emma and Teigan.  Emma and Amos hung out for a while with their eyes closed most of the time.

Great Grandma and Grandpa Musgrave got to see the two little ones together!

We had a great couple of days in Lebanon with family and were pleasantly surprise with how much Amos loved the car rides.  He slept the whole way!

Jason and Jeffrey with each other babies.  Teigan wasn't too interested in the picture taking.

He did great riding in the car and even spent some time down at the lake.  However, Jason and I learned that travelling involves more planning with a baby!

Stay posted, we’re hoping next week we catch a smile!

Week 2

Amos had his very first check up today!  The little piggie weighed in at 8 lbs 10.5 oz – almost a pound heavier than his birth weight!  The Doctor said that he must be a good eater.  I would say so!
His weekly picture says it all, but this week, we have been working on sleeping patterns.  The little guy put himself on a three-hour eating schedule, but has yet to figure out napping.  At night, he wakes to feed every three hours and goes right back to sleep.  During the day, he wakes, feeds, hangs out for a little while and then fights sleep tooth and nail.  I’ll go in and check on him and he will be holding his eyes open as wide as he can.  It’s almost like he is saying, “There is absolutely no way that I am going to sleep unless you are going to hold me in your arms.”  Then Jason and I remind each other that it is only week two and we are all still learning!
Amos had lots of visitors this week.  Aunt Tylie came to visit from KC and Aunt Nyssa came over for hang out time.  He also got to meet his Great Grandma Hubbard for the first time!  We also had our first shopping and restaurant outing.  He slept through most of it.

I love this picture!  Gramps is holding Amos and Great Grandpa is in the background!

Jason and I love the fact that he gets to stay home with us for another month as we figure out how to be parents.  However, Jason is working hard to get ready to teach 7th Grade World History next year!  He’s excited about the change and eager to begin.  I’ve got some learning to do too, as I grow in supporting my husband with his work and nurturing my son!

It’s going to be an exciting first year!  I just hope it doesn’t go by too fast!!!!

Notice any resemblance?  The top picture is Jason!

We have a major Mr. Frowny Face on our hands!

Love this one of Amos and Daddy!

GQ anyone?

Week 1

We have learned a lot of things this week, but since it is only week 1, we don't have a lot of time to think about what they are, let alone write them down!  We have had a lot of fun getting to know our little one and figuring out what the first week of parenting looks like!  Highs and lows, but overall a lot of fun!

Thanks for the beard Pastor Steev!
