blueberry picking and nature walks

Vance Academy for Boys is on summer break, but this summer we're carving out time for daily nature walks and weekly nature outings with friends!  This is an area that does not come naturally for me, so it's been greatly beneficial to do it along side friends!

Most of our walks are on the Ruby Jack trail.  We are so blessed to have it so close to our house and 4 different access points keeps it interesting!

This last week, we went blueberry picking with our Nature Group!  And we couldn't have picked a nicer day to do it.

Ivan and I worked out of the same bucket.  This is how it went, I put some in and he ate them.

Amos was our best blueberry picker.  He got way inside the bush and reached the high juicy ones.

Silas thought he didn't like blueberries, but these fresh ones definitely changed his mind!

We had a blast and came home and made some blueberry cobbler to enjoy for dessert!  I think we'll definitely be back.

uncle joe visits

Uncle Joe made the trip out from California, and we were all so happy to see him!  And these cousins were happy to see each other too!

Grammy and Gramps' town is not busy, so it's perfect for biking around.

Silas' bike is about two sizes too small, but I think he likes the control his feels he has on it.  He just pumps his little legs trying to keep up with Amos.

Nap time for kids meant game on!

The next day, Jason met us at the lake for a day in the sun.

Conrad tolerated the boat and the water a little better this time.

big brutus

Big Brutus has been on our list for a while.  We finally made it happen and it did not disappoint.

memorial day lake trip

The lake has been a constant in our lives these last 8 years.  Because of that, it's easy to use it as a measure of growth in each of the boys.  Every year is different.  Someone is always experiencing something new.  This year Amos is pretty fearless and wants to do all the things.  Silas is mastering jumping off and going under.  Ivan wants to swim by himself.  And Conrad just wants to get off this ride!!
